Privacy Policy

Effective October 1, 2026. This policy applies to the JOSE GUERRA FOR CITY COUNCIL 2026 website, volunteer and supporter signup form, and donation form.

Donor information and required public disclosure

We collect your donor information to process and reconcile your contribution, maintain campaign records, and comply with campaign-finance laws. When disclosure is required, your name, street address, occupation, employer, contribution amount, and contribution date may appear in public campaign-finance filings. California generally requires itemized reporting when contributions from one source total $100 or more in a calendar year. Your information will not be sold, rented, or used for unrelated advertising or marketing. We may provide it to campaign personnel and service providers only as needed for contribution administration, recordkeeping, and legal compliance, and to authorities when legally required. Submitting donor information or making a donation does not subscribe you to email or text messages.

Donor records include your submitted details, intended contribution amount, submission time, and a reference for matching your payment. A submitted form does not confirm receipt of funds. Actual contribution dates and amounts are determined from payment records. Campaign-finance records are retained for at least four years from the filing date of the associated campaign statement and longer when required by law. Required public disclosures cannot be withdrawn through a deletion request.

Information we collect

We collect the name, email address, phone number, volunteer and supporter preferences, and separate email and SMS consent choices you submit. We keep the submission time, signup source, and the disclosure associated with your consent to document your preferences.

How we use information

We use your information to manage volunteer and supporter participation and, when you opt in, send campaign communications. Communications may include election updates, volunteer opportunities, and donation requests. We do not publish your name as an endorsement based on this form.

Mobile information and sharing

Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. SMS opt-in consent and related information will not be shared with third parties for their own marketing. Service providers may process information only as needed to store signup records or deliver communications on behalf of the campaign, subject to confidentiality restrictions. We may disclose information when required by law.

PayPal payment processing

When you choose to pay, PayPal processes your contribution. Payment information is governed by PayPal’s Privacy Statement. The campaign uses transaction records to reconcile contributions and fulfill reporting obligations. We do not collect or store your card number or PayPal password on this website.

Your choices

Both email and SMS consent are optional and unchecked by default. Reply STOP to an SMS to opt out or HELP for help. Use an email unsubscribe link or contact the campaign to stop emails. You may request access, correction, or deletion of your signup information by contacting us; legally required records may be retained.

Storage and security

Signup records are stored using our website hosting provider. We restrict access to campaign signup information and retain it for campaign administration and consent recordkeeping as needed. No transmission or storage system can guarantee complete security.
